今回紹介する英語ニュースはかなり悲しい気持ちになります。
結論から言うと、赤ちゃんイルカが人々の身勝手な行動で死んでしまうというニュースです。アルゼンチンの海岸での出来事です。
いくつかのサイトで取り上げられているので、動物保護団体からはもちろん、個人的にも不快な気持ちになったのでこのニュースに対する反響は大きくなると思います。
ビーチで発見された赤ちゃんイルカ
A young dolphin has died of suspected dehydration after being paraded around like a trophy and stroked by a crowd of sunbathers who then abandoned it on the sand.
The group of people huddled around the mammal taking selfies after it was found on the Argentine beach resort of Santa Teresita in the north-eastern Buenos Aires Province.
Dozens of people crowded round to look at the squirming calf as they strained to touch it, and have their photos taken with it.

The last tragic images show the body, abandoned on the sand, as people continue to take pictures.
The episode has caused the Wildlife Foundation in Argentina to emit a public reminder about the vulnerable species, which only present off the coast of Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.
'The Franciscana, like other species, cannot remain for much time outside of the water, it has thick fatty skin which gives it heat and means that taking it out of the water rapidly causes it to dehydrate and die', they said.

「ラプラタカワイルカは他のイルカと同様に地上では長く生きられない。ラプラタカワイルカは厚い脂肪性の皮膚をもち、普段はその皮膚が体温を上昇させている。つまり、ラプラタカワイルカが急に地上に上げられると脱水を起こし死に至る」

大の大人がセルフィ撮りたいとかそういう自分勝手な理由で生き物殺すとかどうかしてる。
小さな頃から生き物大好きな自分からしたら本当にショッキングなニュースでした。
脱水症状はもちろん、ストレスとかもひどかっただろうな...。
もっと生き物のことを考えてほしいですね。
